Just had a bit of a shock today when Sam found some staplers in his lego box and he said he had to force himself to cut his thumb along the edge of them and he could not stop himself!!!!!
Is this a warning bell for me for the future or am I worrying too much into it!!!
Sam got very upset and I comforted him and his thumb.....
Any feedback on this would be helpful

Hi Lynette
when we spoke to Prof Robertson on Monday she covered the self harm bit as Ben used to try to poke his eyes with his fork.
He hasnt done anything since however but she said it was SIB Self Injurous Behaviour. Seems to be common with tourettes.
How is Sam with this? Has he done anything further or has it settled down?
The only think Ben does at the moment is punch his leg because he gets very frustrated with it.

Hi all
Over the last few weeks I have caught Ben picking at his skin. The other evening he picked a chunk out of his shoulder and it was bleeding. He said he thought he could see a little thorn or spot there so he dug it out.
At the beginning of the holidays I noticed he had little marks on his legs and again he said he had been "pinching" out little thorns.
I explained to him they were just little freckles or marks on the skin and that he must leave it alone otherwise he will get an infection.
do you think this is significant?? Has anyone else come across this?

Hi Theresa
Sam has to pick at his skin especially scabs - it is a slight 30% form of self harming without them realising it is, it comes under the OBD disorder apparently according to St Georges and we have to monitor Sam and his degrees of what he does.

Hi
I thought this might be the case. I will keep a record of when and how often he does it. I am hoping that without drawing too much attn to it that he will forget about it.
